How best to describe this? The doorway and staircase from the hall into Lana's bedroom has always been short and narrow. After two standard 36" top steps, the bottom two steps narrowed to about 24". This was due to the need for an opening for the box staircase, which we have now removed. The installation of the spiral staircase will give us the opportunity to widen Lana's stairs, such that each step will be at or near 36" wide. Nothing we can do about the ~5' high doorway, except continue to duck on the way in and out.
