November 25 -- Thankful, Part Two

A year ago today, we were thankful for timely drywall deliveries. This year, I'm thankful for the ongoing replacement window installation.

The two library windows that look out into the patio are nearly completed:

View of the front. Second floor windows go in next week. Spot the celebratory Campari cocktail.

Old sashes, pullies, and counterweights are all removed as we go along.

November 13 -- "Nothing To See Here."

And, that's the point. Over the years we had to run cable, wiring, etc. through a chase parallel to this downspout that fed signal or power from the basement to the roof, and then to other parts of the house. The renovation has streamlined all that supply, so all the now-redundant wires have been removed, along with the chase.

October 13 -- Scraps

The Inspectors are not sure what to do with all this extra stone and brick from the demolition phase. At this point anything that could be reused, has been.

October 13 - Risers!

Risers in the breezeway received stone today, too.

October 13 -- More New Windows

Today new windows went into the dining room. Yes, the same dining room that was declared "done" earlier this summer. The green you see was an earlier wall paint scheme from the 70's, hidden under the trim.

Trim was completed on more kitchen Windows today:

October 8 -- Builder Self-Portrait

Big window is in!

October 8 -- Window Work

We have replaced many of the 1960's-era windows as we've gone along with the renovation. The large kitchen window  -- with single pane glass that held no heat inside -- will be swapped out with a more efficient version, and two side casement windows that will open.

Above the window, we should be getting a new "floor" for those cabinets.

This is the window that came out, as seen through some homemade pasta a couple of years ago.

October 8 -- Full Court Press

Sidewalk stone goes in today. It took awhile to find enough flagstone to match the other walkway areas.

How far they got today:

September 30 -- Set In Stone

The concrete is dry enough to lay on, without getting stuck (I think).

The boys have left a lasting impression. This area will get flagstone atop it in the next few days.

The steps are done, and wiring is ready for riser lighting.
