September 2 -- Tank Excavation

We knew this old abandoned water tank was in the ground near the old well and the log cabin, but were trying to avoid digging it out. But the change in grade around the area necessitated excavation.

Step One was to dig around the tank by hand.

Step Two was to attach chain to the edges and the square hole shown above, and rock it up and out using the JD 990.

Step Three was to saw it in half, dig out all the earth within, and lighten the halves for removal.
