September 12--More Discoveries

Beneath the plaster of the demolished master bedroom closet, we found 10" wide oak boards that were once siding for the 1788 exterior. We plan to leave these exposed (after a little touch-up and restaining).

Below, you can see where the old rafters of the 1788 roofline were sawed off to accommodate the addition of the master bedroom in 1964.

Also, this side view of the doorway reveals there was once a window here, and was expanded to create a doorway into the master.
