Before and After:
(Please ignore the struggling Ficus.)
Notice the 4" thick cement subfloor under the radiator...
Raphael's findings...
"Using an online formula and assuming the minimum weight of limestone, I calculate we are removing 16.8 tons of stone.
If the volume of the removed area is 15' long and 15' high, and 1' thick, I come up with 225 cubic feet, and use the minimum of 150 lbs. per foot for limestone, this equals 33,750 lbs, or 16.8 tons.
If you add in the 500 lb. (?) cast iron tub that is gone, the indeterminate amount of concrete in the walls, and the metal waste pipelines set to go, I could believe we are lightening the house by 20 tons.
Is that possible?!"
