January 15 -- New and Old Hallway
This is the view of the hallway from the sitting room through the 1960's section. As mentioned earlier, the floor blends new sitting room installation with 1960's refinished planks. On the left is the linen closet, the new "off-season" closet, Ava's hallway, steps to the kitchen, and Finally Char's craft room. Ava's bath is the door facing the viewer.
January 15 -- New Sitting Room Sub-Floor
Here is the new subfloor for the sitting room. We have extended the new flooring to tie into into the 1960's hallway floor, which was standard 2 and 3/8" heart of pine boards.

January 13 -- Speaking of the Sitting Room....
More unplanned mission creep. The floor in the sitting room is too old -- and too-often sanded in the past -- to allow us to sand it yet again for refinishing. Many of the tongue and groove boards had lost the upper half of the groove. We have decided to replace the floor completely. This good news is that many of the squeaks will be addressed and repaired properly.
The lower left side of this board shows the original thickness when the floor was first installed. the rest (toward the lower right of photo) shows how much has been sanded away over the years.
This is looking straight down at the floor. That white light coming through the gaps? That's the fireplace room beneath.
January 11,12,13 -- Hallway Closet Progress
This room was my nursery in 1970, then my dad's home office until about 1980, then his clothes closet until 1995, and finally Char and my closet until last week. It is slated to become our "off-season closet" for winter coats and accessories. There will also be shelving for somebody's comic collection.

January 13 -- Insulation Installation
With the new lighting and HVAC installation completed in the master bedroom, we are able to have insulation blown into the attic area above the room.
This is the tube being fed in through the sitting room window:
